Cancellation policy

Last updated: 15 August 2026

This policy explains how our subscriptions work, and exactly how to cancel one. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

The short version: there's no minimum commitment, you can cancel yourself at any time, and cancelling takes effect immediately.

1. How our subscriptions work

A subscription is a rolling agreement: you choose a delivery frequency when you sign up, and we charge your payment method and bake a fresh box on that schedule until you tell us to stop.

Before you sign up, we always show you the price of each box, how often you'll be charged, how often it will be delivered, and the date of your first and next payments. Nothing is hidden behind small print.

There is no minimum commitment and no tie-in period. You are never locked into a number of boxes, and there is no fee for cancelling.

2. Managing your subscription

You can manage everything yourself, at any time, without contacting us. Use the subscription management link in your order and renewal emails, or sign in to your account on our Site. From there you can:

  • skip an upcoming box;
  • change your delivery frequency;
  • change your flavours or box size;
  • change your delivery address or payment method;
  • pause your subscription; and
  • cancel altogether.

If you'd rather we did it for you, or you can't find the link, email customercare@blackboxdonuts.co.uk and we'll action it — but you never have to ask us, and we will never ask you to phone anyone or sit through a retention conversation to leave.

3. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, yourself, before your next payment is taken. Cancellation takes effect immediately: no further payments are collected and no further boxes are sent.

The only cut-off that matters is the payment itself. Once a payment for a box has been taken, that box is already going into production, so it will be baked and dispatched to you as normal — but it will be your last one, and you won't be charged again.

We'll email you to confirm as soon as a cancellation is processed. If you don't receive that confirmation, assume it hasn't gone through and contact us.

4. Reminders before you're charged

We'll email you before each renewal payment, in good time for you to skip, change or cancel that box if you want to. Renewal reminders are not marketing, so you'll receive them even if you've opted out of our marketing emails.

5. If a payment fails

If a renewal payment fails, we'll let you know and try again over the following few days. Nothing is dispatched until payment succeeds. If it still hasn't gone through after our final attempt, we'll pause your subscription rather than keep retrying, and email you so you can update your card if you'd like to continue.

We will never charge you a fee for a failed payment.

6. Changes to price or products

If we change the price of a subscription box, or make a significant change to what's in it, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, so you have time to decide whether to continue. If you don't want to, cancel before your next payment and nothing further will be charged.

7. Fresh food, deliveries and refunds

Each box sent under a subscription is treated exactly like any other order. That means:

  • delivery timings, carriers and best before dates follow our Shipping Policy;
  • if a box arrives damaged, spoiled, incomplete, incorrect or outside its best before date, contact us within 48 hours and we'll replace or refund it under our Refund Policy;
  • because our donuts are freshly baked and perishable, we can't accept returns or offer change-of-mind refunds on a box that has already been dispatched.

Cancelling a subscription stops future boxes. It doesn't refund boxes you've already received.

8. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits your legal rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, everything we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and you keep those rights on every box in a subscription.

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you have the right to cancel a subscription contract, though the 14-day cooling-off right does not apply to the donuts themselves, as they are goods liable to deteriorate rapidly.
