A Donnolli is a donut-cannoli hybrid, created right here at Black Box Donuts in Newcastle, Co. Down. We take our light, fresh donut dough and shape it into a crisp cannoli-style shell. It's then filled generously with fresh cream, dipped in chocolate, and topped with your favourite treats — think Kinder Bueno, Crunchie, Biscoff and more.
Part donut. Part cannoli. Entirely its own thing. The name says it all: Do(nut) + (Can)nolli = Donnolli.
How is a Donnolli different from a cannoli?
A traditional Sicilian cannoli uses a fried pastry shell filled with sweetened ricotta. A Donnolli swaps both: the shell is made from soft donut dough with a crisp finish, and the filling is fresh whipped cream rather than ricotta — lighter, sweeter, and made for chocolate and confectionery toppings. If a cannoli and a fresh donut had a delicious baby, this is it.
